Feds Appeal to Private Sector on Clearance Reform
The US Government has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to industry soliciting solutions to help speed security clearance processing.
According to Federal Computer Week:
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the Defense Department and the Office of Management and Budget are seeking ways to meet Congress’ December 2009 deadline for improving the security clearance process.
The RFI reportedly asks vendors to submit strategies for completing 90 percent of security clearance investigations in 40 days and adjudications in 20 days.

It’s amazing that they expect a detailed proposal with cost data on an extremely complex project that will cost hundreds of millions of dollars and they want it in two weeks. The RFI was posted on 13 August and the deadline for submissions is 27 August.
The DNI’s 100-day plan very brief addressed major reform of the security clearance process. The ODNI announced that clearance reform would also be addressed in the 500-day plan, which was suppose to be posted on their earlier website this week—nothing yet, not even excuses and no mention of the RFI.
