Couple With Israel Links Denied New Clearances
The Department of Defense has refused to renew the security clearances of two married persons citing their links to Israel but who allegedly had clean records, according to the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA), which filed a friend of the court brief on their behalf. The episode was written about in a ZOA newsletter.
The couple apparently have children living in Israel whom they visit, a bank account there for routine expenses, and are said to have in the past hosted an Israeli military official in their U.S. home. The exact nature of DoD’s concerns is not mentioned. For example, it is not clear whether DoD offered to renew the clearances if the couple were to promise not to host the Israeli official in the future.
